The Way I View New Beginnings | Kirkland Portrait Photographer

13

Welcome back to my blog. It has been way too long since I updated it. For 2012, I have teamed up with a group of fabulous CMPros to share with you and with each other how we view things. Each month this year we will take pictures that speak to the month’s theme and then post them on our blog on the 2nd of the following month. The theme for January was “The Way I View New Beginnings.”

At first I was bummed that this theme was falling in January because my mind immediately went to flower blossoms and tree buds and all the new beginnings that come with spring. Then, a much bigger than usual snow storm hit the area and the plant theme seemed even further away. My mind turned to newborn babies, toddler new walkers, first day of schoolers, etc., but none of those seemed quite right. It wasn’t until I was driving my middle child to gymnastics one day that I knew what I wanted to photograph for this challenge. It was her, and while she’s not at a traditional milestone time right now, this is still just her new beginning. She is very much like the buds on the trees that will be in full force in a month or two. She has such a good heart and is an incredibly creative and divergent thinker, that I have no doubts that some day she will do something great! This day though we had just passed a homeless person holding a sign asking for money and food. She says to me “Mama, I wish we could make it so there were no homeless people” and then we went on to think about what she might be able to do about it. I hope her compassion continues to grow along with her ability to really make changes in her world. For now, I will just enjoy her new beginning.

Beautiful images, Kristin! Your daughter is gorgeous…I love the image of her twirling and of her planting the tree. I miss the NW so much sometimes…even if we do get seedlings and sprouts this time of year. You are in a magical place 🙂
